Takrarishta Choorna – Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage
Takrarishta Choorna or Takrarishta Churna is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of powder. It is used in conditions like swelling in the anal region, itching, and pain in the anal region. It also helps in increasing digestive fire, improves taste, increases complexion, facilitates the normal movements of vata and kapha and increases strength.
Ingredients of Takrarishta Choorna
Choorna dravya (powders)
- Dhanyaka (Coriandrum sativum) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Upakunjika (Nigella Sativa) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Ajaji (Cuminum cyminum) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Hapusha (Juniperus communis) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Pippali dwaya
1. Pippali (Piper longum) – 1 pala (48gms)
2. Gaja Pippali (Scindapsus officinalis) – 1 pala (48gms) - Kaaravi (Carum carvi) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Granthika/Pippali moola (root of Piper longum) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Sathi (Hedychium spicatum) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Yavani (Trachyspermum ammi) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Agni/Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica) – 1 pala (48gms)
- Yavanika (Trachyspermum ammi) – 1 pala (48gms)
Preparation of Takrarishta Choorna
All the ingredients mentioned for making powders are to be taken. Then these herbs are crushed and made powders. The powders are taken in equal quantity and mixed together. This mixture sieved properly and stored for use known as Takrarishta Choorna

- Deepana (improves digestive fire)
- Rochana (improves taste)
- Varnya (increases complexion)
- Kapha Vata anulomana (facilitates the normal movements of vata and kapha )
- Guda Shwayathu (reduces swelling in the anal region)
- Guda Kandu (reduces itching in the anal region)
- Gudarti (reduces pain in the anal region)
- Bala vardhana (improves the strength)
Mode of use, Dosage, and Adjuvant
Takrarishta has generally advised 5 to12 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the physician with buttermilk (takra).
