Gokshuradi Guggulu -Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage

Gokshuradi Guggulu is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of a pill or tablet. It is used in treating, Diabetes mellitus, Dysuria, Urinary obstruction, Urinary calculi, Excessive vaginal discharge, Gout, Diseases of the nervous system, Diseases of the semen, etc… Gokshuradi Guggulu is used mainly in treating genito-urinary diseases both in males and females. It also helps in reducing edema, Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Ingredients of Gokshuradi Guggulu

  1. Gokshura (Tribulus Terrestris) – 28 pala (1.344 kg)
  2. Shuddha Guggulu (Purified Commifera Mukul) – 7 pala (336 gms)
  3. Trikatu
    1. Pippali (Piper longum) – 1 pala (48gms)
    2. Maricha( Piper nigrum) – 1 pala (48gms)
    3. Shunti (Zingiber offinalis) – 1 pala (48gms)
  4. Triphala
    1. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) – 1 pala (48gms)
    2. Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) – 1 pala (48gms)
    3. Amalaki (Emblica Officinalis) – 1 pala (48gms)
  5. Musta (Cyperus rotundus) – 1 pala (48gms)

Preperation of Gokshuradi Guggulu

Crushed Gokshura (Tribulus Terrestris) 28palas (1.344 kg) is added with six times more water (8.064 liters) boiled and reduced to half of the total quantity (4.032 liters). Then the decoction is filtered and added with 7 palas (336 gms). of  purified Guggulu  and heated to semi-solid consistency. Then it is added with 1 pala (48 g) of each of Pippali(Piper longum), Maricha(Piper nigrum) and Shunti (Zingiber Officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) Amla (Emblica Officinalis),
Musta (Cyperus rotundus), pounded and made in to pills. Then the pills are dried under shade and stored in an airtight glass container for use.

  2. Mutrakriccha (Dysuria)
  3. Mutraaghata (Urinary obstruction)
  4. Pradara (Excessive vaginal discharge)
  5. Vatarakta (Gout)
  6. Vata vyadhis (Vata predominent Diseases)
  7. Shukra Dosha (Diseases of the semen)
  8. Ashmari (Urinary calculi)

Mode of use, Dosage, and Adjuvants

Gokshuradi Guggulu is generally advised 1 to 2 pills once or twice daily or as directed by the physician with suitable adhuvants like Punarnavasava/Punarnavadi kashayam, etc…

It is also available in the form double strength tablet with the name Gokshuradi Gulgulu DS
