Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam – Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage
Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicinal preperation in the form of decoction. It is used in treating pitta predominant diseases like fever, sama pitta, Trishna, ama visha, Trishna, daha, moha, atisara, etc…It has similar ingredients to Shadanga Kashayam/Shadanga Paniya, here instead of shunti amrutha is added.

Ingredients of Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam
- Ghana/Musta (Cyperus rotundus) – 1 part
- Chandana (Santalum album) – 1 part
- Amrutha/Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) – 1 part
- Ambu (Plectranthus vettiveroides) – 1 part
- Parpata (Oldenlandia corymbosa) – 1 part
- Ushira (Vetiveria zizanioides) – 1 part
Preparation of Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam
All the specified ingredients are taken and crushed and made with coarse powder. Then decoction is prepared adding water using the kashaya preparation method. Once the decoction is ready it should be filtered and used.
There is one more method of preparing this decoction where Amrutha is taken in an equal quantity of that of the other five ingredients.

- Jwara (Fever)
- Ama Visha (metabolic toxin)
- Trishna (excessive thirst)
- Daha (burning sensation)
Mode of use, Dosage, and Adjuvants
Freshly prepared Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam generally advised 1 pala (approximately 48ml). The bottled kashayam is advised 15 ml with 45 ml of water once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam is also available in tablet form and the general dosage is 1 – 2 tablets once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
