Upanaha Choornam – Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage
Upanaha Choornam or Upanaha Churnam is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of powder. This preparation is used in sudation therapy in vata predominant conditions like pain and stiffness of muscles and joints.
Ingredients of Upanaha Choornam
- Vacha (Acorus calamus)
- Kinwa (yeast)
- Satahwa (Anethum sowa)
- Devadaru (Cedrus deodara)
- Dhanya (grains)
- Gandha dravyas (substances having a pleasant smell)
- Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata)
- Eranda (Ricinus communis)
- Jata/Jatamamsi (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Preparation of Upanaha Choornam
All the above-said ingredients are taken separately and made powder and mixed together.

- Swedana in Vata Vyadhi (for sudation in vata predominant diseases)
Mode of use, Dosage, and Adjuvant
Upanaha Choornam is used for application as poultice mixing it with Oil, vinegar, buttermilk, milk in vata conditions.
It is used as external use only.
