Ingredients of Kanakasava:
Madhura Dravya (Sweetening substances)
- Sita (Sugar candy) – 1 tula (4.8 kgs)
- Madhu (Honey) – 1/2 tula (2.4 kgs)
Drava Dravya (Liquid material0
- Jala (water) – 2 drona (24.576 liters)
Prakshepa Choorna (powders to be added)
- Kanaka/Dhatura (all parts of purified Datura metel) – 4 pala (192 gms)
- Vrushamoola /Vasa (roots of Adhatoda vasica) – 4 pala (192 gms)
- Madhuuka/Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – 2 pala (96 gms)
- Pippali (Piper longum) – 2 pala (96 gms)
- Vyahgri/Kantakari (Solanum xanthocarpum) – 2 pala (96 gms)
- Keshara/Nagakeshara (Mesua ferrea) – 2 pala (96gms)
- Vishvabheshaja/Shunti (Zingiber officinale) – 2 pala (96 gms)
- Bharngi (Clerodendrum serratum) – 2 pala (96gms)
- Talisapatra (Abies webbiana) – 2 pala (96 gms)
- Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa) – 1 prastha (768 gms)
- Draksha (Vitis vinifera) – 20 palas (960 gms)
Kanakasava Preparation:
All the above-said ingredients are taken with specified quantity. Then all the ingredients are put in a ghee smeared earthen vessel and sealed. The vessel has to be kept in airtight place for a months time. After a month it has to be opened and the ingredients are filtered for the use.
Indications of Kanakasava :
- Shwasa – Breathing difficulties like Asthma, Bronchitis
- Kasa – Cough
- Yakshma _ Depletive diseases
- Kshataksheena – weaken by injury
- Jeerna Jvara – Chronic fever
- Raktapitta – Bleeding disorders
- Urakshata – Injury to the chest
The dose of Kanakasava:
- In general 15 to 30 ml twice daily or as directed by the physician.
