Chandanasava

Chandanasava or Chandanasavam is one of the Asava preparation used to treat conditions like spermatorrhoea, burning micturition, urinary stones and other pitta predominant diseases. Chandanasava also works as a cardiac tonic, helps in nourishing body and improves the digestion.

Ingredients of Chandanasava

Madhura dravya (sweeting ingredients)

  1. Guda (Jaggery)  – 2.4 kg
  2. Sita/Raw Sugar — 4.8 kg

Drava dravya (liquid material)

  1. Jala/Water –  24.576 liters

Prakshepa Dravya (other ingreients)

  1. Sweta Chandana (Santalum album)  – 48 g
  2. Balaka/Netrabala — Pavonia odorata – 48 g
  3. Musta (Cyperus rotundus) – 48 g
  4. Gambhari phalam (fruit of Gmelina arborea) – 48 g
  5. Nilotpala (Nymphea stellate) – 48 g
  6. Priyangu (Callicarpa macrophylla) – 48 g
  7. Padmaka (Prunus poddum) – 48 g
  8. Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa)  – 48 g
  9. Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia)  – 48 g
  10. Rakta Chandana (Pterocarpus santalinus) – 48 g
  11. Kiratatikta (Swertia chiraita) – 48 g
  12. Patha (Cyclea peltata) – 48 g
  13. Nyagrodha (Ficus benghalensis) – 48 g
  14. Pippali (Piper longum) – 48 g
  15. Shati (Hedychium spicatum) – 48g
  16. Parpata (Fumaria indica) – 48g
  17. Madhuka/Yastimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra)– 48 g
  18. Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata) – 48 g
  19. Patola (Trichosanthes dioica) – 48g
  20. Kanchanara ( Bauhinia variegata) – 48 g
  21. Amra Tvak (Bark of Mangifera Indica)  – 48 g
  22. Mocarasa (Bombax malabaricum) – 48 g
  23. Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa) – 768 g
  24. Draksha (Vitis vinfera) – 960 g

Indications of Chandanasava

  1.       Shukramehahara – used in the treatment of nightfall, spermatorrhoea.
  2.       Balakara – improves strength and immunity
  3.       Pushtikara – improves nourishment.
  4.       Hrudya – acts as cardiac tonic
  5.       Vahnisandeepana – improves digestion.

Dosage 

For Adults 15 – 30 ml usually after food, or as directed by an Ayurvedic doctor. It can be mixed with equal quantity of water if the taste is not tolerated by the patient.
