Sooranadi Lehyam – Ingredients, Uses and, Dosage
Sooranadi Lehyam is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of jam. The main ingredient of this lehyam is Soorana (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius). It is used mainly treating Arshas (piles/hemorrhoids). Along with this, it is also used in conditions like decreases digestive power, anorexia, etc…
This is also called as Suranadi Lehyam, Suranadi Lehyam, Vanasuranadi Leham, Suranavaleha, Sooranadi Leham etc…
Ingredients of Sooranadi Lehyam
Prakshepaka Dravya (powders to be added)
- Surana (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius) – 16 parts
- Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica) – 8 parts
- Mahaushada/Shunti (Zingiber officinale) – 2 parts
- Maricha (Piper nigrum) – 1 part
Madhura Dravya (sweetening substance)
- Guda/Jaggery (Saccharum officinarum) – Q.S
Drava Dravya (liquid material)
- Jala (water)
Preparation of Sooranadi Lehyam
All the ingredients are taken in specified in quantity. A suitable vessel is taken along with sufficient quantity of water. Then crushed jaggery is added to it and heated. Then the other powdered ingredients are added and boiled. It should be stirred continuously until it becomes a paste form. Then it is taken out from the fire and allowed to cool down. Once it cools down, it can be stored for use.
Indication of Sooranadi Lehyam
- Arshas (piles and hemorrhoids)
- Agnimandya (decreased digestive power)
- Aruchi (anorexia)
Dosage :
In general, 5 to 20 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.

- Makshika (Honey) – 1.026 ml

Preparation of Vanasuranadi Leham
All the ingredients are taken in the specified quantity, and lehya is prepared using leha preparation method.

- Amlapitta (Acid peptic diseases)
Dosage and Adjuvant:
In general 5 to 20 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the Physician.
