Chitrakagranthikadi Kashayam – Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage

Chitrakagranthikadi Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of decoction. It is used in pain, distention of the abdomen, constipation, endometriosis, chocolate cysts, dysmenorrhea, etc…

Ingredients of Chitrakagranthikadi Kashayam

  1. Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica) – 1 part
  2. Granthika (Piper longum) – 1 part
  3. Eranda (Ricinus communis) – 1 part
  4. Shunti (Zingiber officinalis) – 1 part

Preparation method :

All the above-mentioned ingredients are taken in the specified quantity and crushed into small pieces. Then eight times of water is added and boiled to prepare the decoction. When the water content is reduced to one-fourth quantity the decoction is filtered and used.

Indications of Chitrakagranthikadi Kashayam

  1. Shula (abdomen pain)
  2. Anaha (distention of abdomen)
  3. Vibandha (constipation)

Adjuvant and Dosage :

Chitrakagranthikadi Kashayam is taken along with Saindhava, Vida, and Hingu

The general dose is 15 to 30 ml with three times of water once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.
