Chandanosiradi Kashayam – Ingredients, USes, and Dosage

Chandanosiradi Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of decoction. It is used in treating hemorrhagic diseases and pitta predominant diseases.

Ingredients of Chandanosiradi Kashayam

  1. Chandana (Santalum album)
  2. Usheera (Vetiveria zizanioides)
  3. Jalada/Musta (Cyperus rotundus)
  4. Laja (Parched rice)
  5. Mudga (Vigna radiate)
  6. Kana (Piper longum)
  7. Yava (Hordeum vulgare)
  8. Bala (Sida cordifolia)

Method of preparation

First bala roots are taken and crushed into pieces. This is added with eight times of water and boiled and reduced to one-fourth quantity. Once the decoction is prepared it is filtered and kept in a vessel.

The powders of Chandana, usheera, musta, laja, mudga, kana, and yava are put into the decoction and kept overnight and used in the next day morning.

This preparation is also known as sheeta kashaya or shruta sheeta jala and all these are having more pitta mitigating properties.

  1. Raktapitta (bleeding disorder)

Adjuvant and Dosage:

Chandanosiradi Kashayam has advised 15 to 30 ml with three times of water once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
