Balarishta or Balarishtam is one of the ayurvedic medicines used to treat Vata diseases.
Ingredients of Balarishta
Drava dravya (ingredients to prepare decoction)
- Panchanga of (five parts of Sida cordifolia) – 100 pala
- Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) – 100 pala
- Water – 4 drona
Boiled and reduced to 1 drona
Madhura Dravya
- Purana Guda (Old jaggery) – 3 tola
Praksepa Choorna
- Dhataki pushpa (flowers of Woodfordia fruticosa) – 16 pala
- Payasya (Ipomoea digitata)
- Panchangalua/Eranda (Ricinus communis)
- Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata)
- Ela (Elettaria cardamom)
- Prasarini (Paederia foetida)
- Devapushpi/Lavanga (Syzygium aromaticum)
- Ushira (Vetiveria zizanioides)
- Gokshura (Tribulus terristris)

- Bala Karaka (increases strength)
- Pushti Karaka (nourishes tissues
- Agni Vardhana (increases the digestive power)
Mode of use :
General dose is 15 – 30 ml for adults.
