Balarishta

Balarishta or Balarishtam is one of the ayurvedic medicines used to treat Vata diseases.

Ingredients of Balarishta

Drava dravya (ingredients to prepare decoction)

  1. Panchanga of (five parts of Sida cordifolia) – 100 pala
  2. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) – 100 pala
  3. Water – 4 drona

Boiled and reduced to 1 drona

Madhura Dravya 

  1. Purana Guda (Old jaggery) – 3 tola

Praksepa Choorna

  1. Dhataki pushpa (flowers of Woodfordia fruticosa) – 16 pala
  2. Payasya (Ipomoea digitata)
  3. Panchangalua/Eranda (Ricinus communis)
  4. Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata)
  5. Ela (Elettaria cardamom)
  6. Prasarini (Paederia foetida)
  7. Devapushpi/Lavanga (Syzygium aromaticum)
  8. Ushira (Vetiveria zizanioides)
  9. Gokshura (Tribulus terristris)

Indication of Balarishta

  1. All types of Vata Diseases
  2. Bala Karaka (increases strength)
  3. Pushti Karaka (nourishes tissues
  4. Agni Vardhana (increases the digestive power)

Mode of use :

General dose is 15 – 30 ml for adults.
