Amruthaprasha Ghrutam or Amrithprash Ghrit is an Ayurvedic Ghee preparation. It is used in treating Cough, Hiccups, Fever, Breathing difficulties, excessive thirst, Vomiting, Syncope, Heart diseases etc…

It is called as Amruthaprasha Ghrutam because it works as nectar for the one who consumes it. When it is licked its taste resembles the taste of nectar so sages named it as Amruthaprasha.

Ingredients of Amruthaprasha Ghrutam

Sneha Dravya (Oil material)

  1. Ghruta (Cows Ghee) – 1 prastha (768 ml)

Drava Dravya (Liquid Material)

  1. Ksheera (Cows Milk) – 1 prastha (768 ml)
  2. Amalaki Swarasa (juice of Phyllanthus emblica) – 1 prastha (768 ml)
  3. Vidari Swarasa (juice of Pueraria tuberosa) – 1 prastha (768 ml)
  4. Ikshu Swarasa(juice of Saccharum officinarum)- 1 prastha (768 ml)
  5. Ajamamsa Rasa (Goat meat soup) – 1 prastha (768 ml)

Preperation of Amruthaprasha Ghrutam

Amruthaprasha Ghrutam is prepared according to the Ghruta paka vidhi. First the drugs mentioned for making paste are taken in specific quantity and made in to paste. Then the liquid materials along with Ghee has to be heated in a mild fire till it attains proper paaka. Once it cools down the other powders are added along with sugar and honey.

Dosage of Amruthaprasha Ghrutam

Amruthaprasha Ghrutam is advised considering the strength and condition of the patient and the disease.

Pathya :

When one has Amruthaprasha Ghrutam he/she should have either milk or Meat soup as pathya.
