Ajamamsa Rasayanam or Ajamamsa Lehyam is an Ayurvedic linctus. It is mainly used as a nourisher or rejuvenator in conditions like Cold, cough, debility etc….

Ingredients of Ajamamsa Rasayanam 

Drava Dravya (Substances for decoction)

  1. Rasna (Alpinia galanga) – 1 pala (48 gms)
  2. Dashamoola
    1. Bilwa (Aegle marmelos) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    2. Agnimantha (Premna obtusifolia) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    3. Gambhari (Gmelina arborea) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    4. Shyonaka (Oroxylum Indicum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    5. Pathala (Stereospermum suaveolens) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    6. Shalaparni (Desmodium gangeticum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    7. Prushnaparni (Uraria picta) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    8. Bruhati (Solanum Indicum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    9. Kantakari (Solanum xanthocarpous) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    10. Gokshura (Tribulus Terrestris) – 1 pala (48 gms)
  3. Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)- 1 pala (48 gms)
  4. Kulatha (Dolichos biflorus) – 1 Kudava (192 gms)
  5. Badara (Ziziphus mauritiana) 1 Kudava (192 gms)
  6. Yava (Hordeum vulgare) – 1 Kudava (192 gms)
  7. Aja mamsa(Meat of Goat) 1/2 tula (2.400 gms)
  8. Jala (Water) 1 drona (12.288 liters)

All the ingredients are added together in specified quantity and decoction is prepare by reducing it to 1/4 of the water taken.

  1. Jeevaniya Gana Dravya
    1. Jeevanthi (Leptadenia reticulata) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    2. Kakoli (Rascoea procera) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    3. Ksheerakakoli (Lilium polphyllum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    4. Meda (Polygonatum verticillatum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    5. Mahameda (Polygonatum cirrhifolium) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    6. Mudgaparni (Vigna radiata) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    7. Mashaparni (Vigna mungo) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    8. Rishabaka (Microstylis Nucifera) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    9. Jeevaka (Malaxis acuminta) – 1 pala (48 gms)
    10. Madhuka (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – 1 pala (48 gms)

Sneha Dravya (Oil material)

  1. Ghruta (Cows Ghee) – 1 adhaka (3.72gms)

Preperation of Ajamamsa Rasayanam 

All the ingredients are taken together and ghee is prepared according to Ghruta Paka Vidhi.

Indications of Ajamamsa Rasayanam 

  1. Vata Roga – Diseases of Vata
  2. Pancha kasa – Five types of Cough
  3. Shirakampa – Tremors of Head
  4. Yonivedana – Vaginal pain,
  5. Vamkshana Vedana – Pain in lower back, Menstrual Cramps
  6. Sarvanga Roga – Diseases affecting all of the body like paralysis
  7. Ekanga Roga – Diseases affecting one part of the body like Facial paralysis
  8. Pleeha Roga – Diseases related to Spleen
  9. Urdwa Vata – Vata moving in opposite direction

Dosage of Ajamamsa Rasayanam

10 to 15 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.
