Mridwikadi Leham – Ingredients, Uses and, Dosage
Mridwikadi Leham is also known as Mridwikadi Lehyam or Mrudweekadi leham is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the jam form. It is named as Mridwikadi Leham because the main ingredient of this leham is Mridwika, ie, raisin. It is mainly used in treating cough, breathing difficulty, vomiting, low appetite, persistent cough in children, etc…
Ingredients of Mridwikadi Leham
Madhura Dravya (sweetening substance)

Sharkara (Sugar candy) – 1 pala (48gms)

Madhu (honey)
Drava dravya (liquid material)
- Mridwika/Draksha kashaya (decoction of dry Vitis vinifera) – 50 nos
Prakshepaka Choorna (powder to be added)
- Pippali (Piper longum) – 30 nos
Preparation of Mridwikadi Leham
A suitable vessel is taken, and the decoction of draksha is prepared. When the decoction is ready, sugar candy is added and heated till it attains proper paka (semisolid). Then the pippali powder is added and stirred well and allowed it to cool down. Once it becomes cool, it can be stored for use.
Indication of Mridwikadi Leham
- Kasa or pittaja kasa (pitta predominent cough).
- Shwasa (Breathing difficulty)
- Chardi (Vomiting)
- Aruchi (Low appetite)
- Persistent cough in children
Dosage:
In general, it is advised 5 to 15 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.
Anupana (adjuvant) :
When consuming Mridwikadi Leham, it should be licked with honey.
