Pragbhakta Lehya – Ingredients, Uses and, Dosage
Pragbhakta Lehya is an ayurvedic medicine in jam/leha form. It is also known as Pragbhakta Leha. This preparation has been explained in the context of Arsha chikitsa (treatment of hemorrhoids or piles). It is used in treating hemorrhoids or piles when there is a need for downward movement of vata (vatanulomana) and varchanulomana (feces).
Ingredients of Pragbhakta Lehya
- Karanja Pallava (tender leaves of Pongamia pinnata)
- Busta saktu (fried floor of parched rice)
- Yamaka
1. Thila Thaia (oil of Sesamum indicum)
2. Ghruta (cows ghee)
Preparation of Pragbhakta Lehya:
Tender leaves of Karanja should be fried with ghee and thila oil along with fried floor of parched rice.
Indication of Pragbhakta Lehya
- Arsha chikitsa (treatment of hemorrhoids or piles)
- Vatanulomana (facilitates downward movement of vata)
- Varchanulomana (facilitates downward movement of feces)
Dosage:
In general 5 to 20 gms or as advised by the physician.
How to use Pragbhakta Lehya
As the name suggests ‘Pragbhakta,’ It should be consumed before the first meal.
