Ingredients of Narayanagulam

Madhura Dravya (sweetening substance)

  1. Guda/Jaggery (Saccharum officinarum) – 4.211 gms
  2. Sarkara/Sugar candy (Saccharum officinarum) 02.105 gms

Swarasa (Fresh jucie)

  1. Rajanirasa (fresh juice of Curcuma longa) – 8.421 ml
  2. Dhatrirasa (fresh juice of Phyllanthus Emblica) – 8.421 ml

Prakshepaka Dravya (powders to be added)

  1. Pitikamula (Salacia reticulata) – 13.158 gms
  2. Ela (Elettaria cardamomum) – 0.066 gms
  3. Lavanga (Syzygium aromaticum) – 0.066 gms
  4. Patra (Cinnamomum Tamala) – 0.066 gms
  5. Kesara (Mesua ferrea) – 0.132 gms
  6. Amra (Mangifera indica) – 0.132 gms
  7. Viswa (Zingiber officinale) – 0.132 gms
  8. Tuka (Maranta arundinacea) – 0.263 gms
  9. Madhuka (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – 0.263 gms
 Preparation of Narayanagulam
All the above-said ingredients are taken in specified quantity. First jaggery, sugar candy along with fresh juices of haridra and Amalaki are added together and heated. When this mixture attains proper paka (semisolid inconsistency), the other powdered ingredients are added and stirred well. Once it mixed thoroughly, it should be allowed to cool down and later it can be stored for use.

Indications of Narayanagulam

  1. Vimshati prameha (all types of prameha)
  2. Mutrakruchra (dysuria)
  3. Malanulomana (constipation)

Dosage of Narayanagulam

In general 5 to 15 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.
