Dhanwantharam Kashayam – Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage
Dhanwantharam Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of decoction. It is prepared using the same ingredients as Dhanwantharam Thailam. Dhanwantharam Kashayam is used in postnatal mothers, rheumatic complaints, fatigue, degenerating diseases, demyelinating diseases, gynecological problems, general debility, trauma, etc…its also beneficial in all vataja conditions specifically in dhatukshayajanya (depletive diseases) vata rogas.
Other names: Dhanwantharam Kashaya, Dhanwanthara Kashaya, Dhanwantaram Kashayam, Dhanwantara Kashayam, Dhanwantaram Kashaya. Dhanwantharam Kashayam tablet.

Preperation of Dhanwantharam Kashayam
All the above-said ingredients are taken in the specified quantity and crushed to make a coarse powder. water is added eight times the total quantity to the powder and boiled. When the water content is reduced to one-fourth quantity the decoction is filtered and used.
Indication of Dhanwantharam Kashayam :
- Sarva vata roga (all vata roga)
- Sutika roga (postnatal problems)
- Baala roga (diseases of the children)
- Marma kshata (injury to vital points)
- Asthi kshata (injury to bones)
- Ksheena (debility)
- Jwara (fever)
- Gulma (abdominal tumors)
- Graha (diseases caused by unknown forces)
- Unmada (insanity)
- Mutraghata (urinary problems)
- Antravriddi (intestinal enlargement)
- Yoni roga (vaginal disorders)
- Kshaya (depletive diseases)
Mode of use, Dosage, and Adjuvants
Freshly prepared Dhanwantharam Kashayam generally advised 1 pala (approximately 48ml). The bottled kashayam is advised 15 ml with 45 ml of water once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
Amrutha Shadangam Kashayam is also available in tablet form and the general dosage is 1 – 2 tablets once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
