Cheriya Chandanadi Thailam or Cheriya Chandanadi Thaila is also known as Chandanadi Thailam (Small). It is an ayurvedic medicinal oil preparation used to treat Vatarakta, Burning sensation in the body, head, eyes and in intermittent fevers. This is said to be prepared by Ashwini Gods.

- Ketaki moola kwatha (decoction prepared from roots of Pandanus odoratissimus) – 1 prastha (768 ml)
- Ksheera (Cows Milk) – 4 prastha (3.072 litrs)

- Chandana (Santalum album) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Madhuka/Yastimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Kushta (Saussurea lappa) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Suradruma/Devadaru (Cedrus deodara) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Ushira (Vetiveria zizanioides) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Utpala (Nymphaea stellata) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Mamsi /Jatamamsi (Nardostachys jatamansi) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Patra (Cinnamomum tamala) – ½ tola (6gms)
- Aguru (Aquilaria agollacha) – ½ tola (6gms)

- Thila Thaila (Oil of Sesamum indicum) – 1 prastha (768 ml)
Preparation of Cheriya Chandanadi Thailam
All the ingredients are taken in specified quantity. First, the decoction is prepared and then all the other ingredients are added. This mixture is heated on mild fire till the oil attains proper transformation. Then the oil is filtered and used.
Indications of Cheriya Chandanadi Thailam
- Vatarakta (gout)
- Anga daha (burning sensation)
- Siro daha (Burning sensation in the head)
- Netra daha (Burning sensation in the Eyes)
- Vishama Jwara (Intermittent fever)
Mode of use :
Cheriya Chandanadi Thailam is used as an external application and administered internally also. It is also used as Nasya (national medication) depending on the nature of the process.
