Balashwagandhadi Thaila or Balashwagandhadi Thailam is one of the preparations used to treat different types of Vata diseases. It has the properties of nourishing tissues and also stimulates the nervine tissues.

Ingredients of Balashwagandhadi Thaila

Kalka Dravya (drugs used for making the paste)

  1. Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata) 
  2. Chandana (Santalum album)
  3. Manjishta (Rubia cordifolia)
  4. Murva (Cynodon dactylon)
  5. Madhuka/Yasthimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra) 
  6. Chora/Kachora (Angelica glauca)
  7. Sariba (Hemidesmus indicus)
  8. Ushira (Vetiveria zizanioides)
  9. Jalada/Mushta (Cyperus rotundus)
  10. Kushta (Saussurea lappa)
  11. Aguru (Aqualloria agallocha)
  12. Suradruma/Devadaru (Cedrus deodara)
  13. Haridra (Curcurma longa)
  14. Kumuda kanda (stem of Nymphaea stellata)
  15. Kounthi/Renuka/Harenu (Vitex agnus-castus)
  16. Satahwa (Anethum sowa)
  17. Padmakesara (Nelumbium speciosum)

All ingredients hould be taken 1 tola ecah.

Sneha Dravya (Oil base)

  1. Tila Taila (Sesame Oil) – 1 prastha

Drava Dravya (liquid materials)

  1. Bala (Sida cordifolia)
  2. Aswagandha (Withania somnifera)
  3. Laksha (Laccifer lacca)

All the above drugs are taken 1 prashta for preparing decoction

  1. Dadhi mastu (watery portion of curd) – 4 prastha

Indications of Balashwagandhadi Thaila

  1. Sarva Jwara
  2. Unmada
  3. Kshaya
  4. Kasa
  5. Vividha Vata roga
  6. Pushtikaraka

Mode of use:

Balashwagandhadi Thaia is used as external application.
