Amruta dwitayam Kashayam – Ingredients Uses and Dosage

Amruta dwitayam Kashayam or Amrita dwitayam Kashaya is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of decoction. It is used in treating edema, enlargement of the abdomen, skin diseases, anemia, worm infestation, diabetes, etc…It also helps in reducing kapha and vata in the upper part of the body.

Ingredients of Amruta dwitayam Kashayam

Kashaya Dravya (materials for decoction)

  1. Amruta dwaya
    1. Amruta (Tinospora cordifolia)
    2. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
  2. Sivatika/?punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa)
  3. Devadaru (Cedrus deodara)
  4. Supura/Guggulu (Commiphora wightii)

Preparation of Amruta dwitayam Kashayam

All the above-said ingredients are taken in equal parts. These herbs are crushed into small pieces and eight times of water is added. This is boiled and water is reduced to one-fourth quantity. Once the decoction is prepared it has to filter and used along with cows urine.

Indication of Amruta dwitayam Kashayam

  1. Shwayathu (edema)
  2. Udara (enlargement of the abdomen)
  3. Kushta (skin diseases)
  4. Pandu (anemia)
  5. Krimi (worm infestation)
  6. Meha (diabetes)
  7. Urdwa Kaphanilapaha (reduces Kapha and vata of upper body)

Adjuvant and Dosage:

In general, it is advised 15 to 30 ml with three times of water once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.

In the text, it is mentioned that all the ingredients are made into powder and then it should be added with cows urine and consumed.
