Indukantham Kashayam – Ingredients, Uses, and Dosage
Indukantham Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicinal preperation in the form of decoction or tablet. It is used in treating various vata predominant diseases, phthisis, ascites, abdominal tumors, pain, intermittent fevers, rheumatic problems, diseases of the digestive tract, etc… It increases the digestive process and absorptive capacity of the intestine. It is used as a preventive medication for any infectious communicable diseases.

- Puthika (Holoptelea integrifolia) – 1.089 gms
- Daru (Cedrus deodara) – 1.089 gms
- Kasmari (Gmelina arborea) – 1.089 gms
- Vilwa (Aegle marmelos) – 1.089 gms
- Patala (Stereospermum colais) – 1.089 gms
- Syonaka (Oroxylum indicium) – 1.089 gms
- Agnimantha (Premna corymbosa) – 1.089 gms
- Sthira (Desmodium gangeticum) – 1.089 gms
- Amsumathi (Pseudarthria viscida) – 1.089 gms
- Brihati (Solanum anguivi) – 1.089 gms
- Kantakari (Solanum virginianum) – 1.089 gms
- Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) – 1.089 gms
- Pippali (Piper longum) – 1.089 gms

Preparation of Indukantham Kashayam
All the specified ingredients are taken and crushed and made with coarse powder. Then decoction is prepared by adding water boiling and reducing it to one fourth using the kashaya preparation method. Once the decoction is ready it should be filtered and used.

- Vata roga (vata predominant diseases)
- Kshaya (phthisis)
- Mahodara (abdominal enlargement)
- Gulma (abdominal tumors)
- Shoola (pain)
- Nimnonnata jwara (intermitent fever)
- Bala vardhana (increases strength/immunity)
Mode of use, Dosage, and Adjuvants
Freshly prepared Indukantham Kashayam generally advised 1 pala (approximately 48ml). The bottled kashayam is advised 15 ml with 45 ml of water once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
Indukantham Kashayam is also available in tablet form and the general dosage is 1 – 2 tablets once or twice daily or as advised by the physician.
