
Ingredients, Preparation, and Uses of Gandeera Rasayana
Gandeera Rasayana is an ayurvedic semisolid preparation. It is used in treating Kamala (jaundice), Hridroga (cardiac diseases), Vatarakta (diseases of Vata and rakta), Vishama jwara (intermittent fever) Kasa (cough), Meha (diabetes), Pandu (anemia), Shwasa (breathing difficulties) Granthi (tumors) Arbuda (carcinoma) and Krimi (worm infestation).
Ingredients of Gandeera Rasayana
Kashaya Dravya (materials for preparing decoction)
- Gandeera/Snuhi samoola pushpa and shaka(root, flower and stem of Euphorbia nerifolia) – 1 tula (4.800 kgms)
- Dashamoola – ½ tula (2.400 kgms)

5. Pathala (Stereospermum suaveolens)
6. Shalaparni (Desmodium gangeticum)

8. Bruhati (Solanum Indicum)
9. Kantakari (Solanum xanthocarpous)
10. Gokshura (Tribulus Terrestris) - Triphala – ½ tula (2.400 kgms)
1. Hareetaki (Terminalia chebula)
2. Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica)
3. Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) - Gostanya/Draksha (Vitis vinifera) – ½ prastha (384 gms)
- Kutaja twak (bark of Holarrhena antidysenterica) -1/2 prastha (384 gms)
- Vidanga (Embelia ribes) – 1 Kudava (192 gms)
- Arushkara/Bhallataka (Semecarpus anacardium) – 1 Kudava (192 gms)
- Ambodha/Musta (Cyperus rotundus) – 1 kudava each – 1 Kudava (192 gms)
- Kalinga/Kutaja beeja (seeds of Holarrhena antidysenterica) – 1 Kudava (192 gms)
- Patha (Cyclea peltata) – 1 pala (48 gms)
- Danti (Baliospermum montanum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
- Shati (Hedychium spicatum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
- Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata) – 1 pala (48 gms)
- Murva (Marsdenia tenacissima) – 1 pala (48 gms)
- Vahni/Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica) – 1 pala each
- Jala (Water) – 16 parts of the total quantity
Madhura Dravya (Sweetening substance)
- Sitopala (sugar candy)
Prakshepa Dravya ( materials to be added at last)
- Ayas/Loha (iron) – 1 prastha (768 gms)
- Kana/Pippali Choorna (powder of Piper longum) – 1/2 prastha (384 gms)
- Granthika/Pippali moola (root of Piper longum) – 1 pala (48 gms)
- Tikshna/Maricha (Piper nigrum) – 1/2 pala (24 gms)
- Vidanga (Embelia ribes) – 1/2 pala (24 gms)
- Elavaluka (Elettaria cardamomum) – 1/2 pala (24 gms)
Preparation of Gandeera Rasayana
First the decoction is prepared using the specified ingredients. Once the decoction is ready sitopala is added and heated till it attains leha paka (semisolid state).
Then the powders mentioned as prakshepa dravya are added and stirred well. It should be stored in a ghee smeared earthenware for one month and then is ready for use.

- Krimi (worm infestation).
Dosage :
In general Gandeera Rasayana can be taken 5 to 20 gms once or twice daily with suitable adjuvants or as advised by the physician.
Special Precaution :
This preparation contains Bhallataka (purified one) and it may cause an allergic reaction. so it should be used as prescribed only.
